We welcome you on the homepage of the wine growing-estate Schalek-Rabel in the famous wine growing village Gumpoldskirchen.

In the family business  we cultivate our wine in our own vineyards ( approximatly  4 ha.) with the varieties Welschriesling, Rheinriesling, Blauer Portugieser, Neuburger and the finest qualities Zierfandler and Rotgipfler.

Also we use Zierfandler to produce the Zierfandlerbrand, a brandy of 42% alc.

The cutting of the plants is aimed at quality and not at quantity.

Our wine matures in oak casks as well as in steel tanks.

Half of our wine we produce is sold in our " Buschenschank".

Buschenschank means that wine producers offer their own products during special periods.( This goes back to a privilege according to an old law by the Duke Albrecht III from 1380 )In order to show that we have opened our Buschenschank we display a bunch of pine twigs at our entrance.

During the openining periods we offer an excellent local buffet including warm and cold dishes.

A comfortable room and a charming garden offer a cosy atmosphere to about 70 guests.

Many of our guests take quite a substantial amount of wine to their homes.

A part of our brandy is beeing filled in specially designed bottles made by the best glass blowing workshops in Europe.

If you decide to visite Austria, come to our small village, situated about 20 km. south of Vienna   and enjoy the excellent quality of wine and food.

Of course we like to offer to travel groups a warm welcome and hospitality.We also arrange

special wishes e.g. vegeterian cooking, wine cellar visits, horse excursions on carriages through the vineyards. In this case we request you to book in advance.
